We envision a world where education is grounded in cultural relevance, connection, and collective healing, where students, families, and educators feel empowered to honor their identities, engage with each other across differences, and take joy in the process of learning and growing together.
At Bibim Together, the name "Bibim" is inspired by the beloved Korean dish bibimbap, which literally means "mixed rice." Just as bibimbap brings together a harmonious mix of ingredients to create something vibrant and nourishing, Bibim Together brings people together by blending diverse cultures, identities, and stories.
Unlike the outdated metaphor of a "melting pot" to describe our diverse society, where everything turns into mush, losing its unique flavor, Bibim Together celebrates the idea that every "ingredient" retains its essence while creating something richer and more harmonious when mixed together.
We believe in the beauty of the “mix," whether it’s language, heritage, or perspective and how coming together in this way creates spaces of understanding, belonging, and joy. Through our work, we celebrate the richness that emerges when we embrace our differences, blending them into something stronger and more whole.
Haeyoung Koh (she/her) is an educator, curriculum designer, and community organizer committed to building spaces where cultural identity, joy, and connection are centered in learning. She is the founder of Bibim Together, a community initiative inspired by the Korean dish bibimbap, bringing together diverse ingredients, stories, and people to create something nourishing and meaningful.
With years of experience as a public school teacher specializing in inclusion education and a district administrator, Haeyoung has worked across PK–12 schools, family programs, and cultural institutions to support students, educators, and caregivers in exploring identity and belonging. She specializes in designing culturally responsive curriculum and facilitating intergenerational programs that weave together storytelling, food, and reflection.
Through Bibim Together, Haeyoung partners with educators, PK-12 students, families, cultural institutions, and non-profits to co-create experiences that honor lived experience, spark dialogue, and strengthen community ties. Whether it’s through a bilingual story time and cooking workshop or a restorative justice-infused classroom unit, her work centers care, curiosity, and connection.
Haeyoung lives in Boston with her family and continues to draw inspiration from the vibrant communities she serves and the stories that shape them.
